Sewer line problems we fix

  • Tree roots in the line
  • Grease and debris blockages
  • Corroded cast-iron pipe
  • Bellied (sagging) pipe that holds waste
  • Leaking or offset joints
  • Cracked, broken or collapsed pipe

Camera first

A sewer camera inspection takes the guessing out of sewer work. We run the camera from a cleanout, record the line, and show you the footage. Roots get cleared and the line jetted. A single cracked section can often be repaired on its own. A line that's collapsed in several places needs replacing. You decide with the footage in front of you. More in Mike's post on sewer camera inspections.

Water service lines

The water line brings city water from the curb stop into your house. Older homes may still have galvanized steel or lead service lines, which corrode and restrict flow. Low pressure everywhere in the house, rusty water or a wet spot in the yard over the line are signs it's failing. We repair or replace it and pressure-test the new line.

They tell me what is worth doing or not doing, and won't try to upcharge me. The work is always great. They are my go-to!

Water on the floor right now?

Call. A licensed plumber answers day or night, talks you through stopping the water, and gets on the road.

908-873-6686

Nights, weekends and holidays: emergency visits are an extra $250, paid upfront. We tell you on the phone before we drive out.

Do this now

  1. Shut the main valve. Usually where the water line enters, near the meter.
  2. Kill power to anything wet, from the breaker panel, if you can reach it dry.
  3. Open a low faucet to drain the pipes and take pressure off the leak.

Sewer & Water Lines: common questions

What causes a sewer line to back up?

Tree roots growing in through old joints, grease buildup, "flushable" wipes, a sag in the pipe that holds waste, and cracked or collapsed sections of older clay and cast-iron pipe.

Why do you do a camera inspection first?

Clearing a line tells you it was blocked, not why. The camera shows the cause, so you don't pay to clear the same roots every few months or replace a line that only needed one section fixed.

Who is responsible for the sewer line, me or the town?

In most New Jersey towns the homeowner owns the lateral from the house to the town's main, often including the part under the street. Check with your town's sewer department for your street.

Do you replace water service lines?

Yes. We repair and replace the water line from the curb to the house, including old galvanized and lead lines.
