Find and shut your main water valve
Every adult in the house should know where it is before something bursts.
Stop and call if the valve won't turn or water keeps running after it's closed.
Clear a slow drain without chemicals
Hot water, a plunger and a hair snake fix most sink and tub clogs.
Stop and call if more than one drain is slow, or water comes up in the tub when you flush.
Stop a toilet that keeps running
Usually the flapper or the fill valve. Both are cheap parts.
Stop and call if it leaks at the base or the tank is cracked.
Why is my water pressure low?
One faucet is usually a clogged aerator. The whole house points to the main valve or the pressure regulator.

Keep your pipes from freezing
Shut outdoor spigots, open sink cabinets on exterior walls, keep the heat at 55°F or higher.
Stop and call if a tap gives no water in a freeze. A frozen pipe can split when it thaws.

Disconnect hoses, shut and drain outdoor spigots, open cabinets on outside walls and keep the house at 55°F or higher.
Why is my water pressure low?
One faucet: a clogged aerator. Whole house: a partly closed main, a failing pressure regulator or old galvanized pipe.
Should I snake or hydro-jet my drain?
Snaking clears a clog. Jetting scours the pipe walls and is better for grease and recurring roots. A camera check tells us which.
